What is The Salvation Army?
The Salvation Army is a worldwide Christian church and charity. Our mission is based on our faith in Jesus Christ who wants everyone to experience life in all its fullness. That is why, here in the UK and Ireland, we put our faith into action by offering practical help for people without discrimination, sharing good news, seeking justice and reconciliation, caring for creation and nurturing disciples of Jesus. The services we offer are diverse and responsive to the realities of life in the communities we serve.
What is the South Western Fellowship Band?
The fellowship band is set up within the Salvation Army’s south-western division (area) rather than linked to an individual corps (church), and the emphasis is on the word ‘fellowship’.
Do you need to be a member of the Salvation Army to join the band?
No! You don’t need to be a member of the Salvation Army. Any musicians with any kind of link to the Salvation Army or a church in the area are welcome to join.
What is the age for joining the band?
The entry requirement is, generally, 50 or over but there’s no upper age limit!
Do I need my own instrument?
Most of the band members have their own instrument, but we do have a few spares available for anyone who doesn’t.
Where does the band rehearse?
At Pill Salvation Army hall: 1 Heywood Road, Pill, BS20 0HT
How often does the band rehearse?
Our practices are usually every two or three weeks, apart from the summer months.
What time and day are the rehearsals?
Monday evenings from 7.30pm – 9.30pm including a tea break.
Can I just come along and listen?
Yes! Anyone is very welcome to come along to our rehearsals and events.
